Almost the entire range of branded luggage is equipped with built-in or padlocks. But often there is a need to buy a lock for a suitcase or bag as an additional or instead of a lost one.
In addition, many travelers prefer to lock not only the main compartment, but also patch pockets. Those who have not done this for a long time often fall into a stupor from the modern assortment. You can understand them - the choice of castles is simply incredible and at first it seems difficult! Below we will briefly talk about locks and everything will become very simple.
The most important thing about luggage locks
- First of all, don't treat locks like safe locks. We are embarrassed by the fact that some padlocks have a plastic case. This is done in order to reduce the weight of luggage. Doesn't affect reliability at all. Breaking the lock with wire cutters is easy, just like any suitcase. As you know, the lock is needed to prevent unauthorized entry. As securely as in a safe, things in a suitcase cannot be hidden.
- Should I choose a combination lock or with a key? Yes, whatever you like. The code must be memorized, and the key is here! But the key can be lost.
- Combination locks are more often three-digit, but occasionally four-digit. Which is more reliable? If you forgot the 3-digit code, you can pick it up in 20-40 minutes. At the airport, with suitcases checked in, no one will bother like that, and if the lock cannot be opened in a minute or two, then they will not open it. But multiply a 4-digit code lock by 10 in time compared to a three-digit one!
- Here's what you should not save on, so it's a small difference in price between a lock with or without TSA.
- We have seen the lightning bolts and lock shackles bitten during security checks at the airport several times and we understand that a lock with TSA is a must!
- Code - how to remember it. Very simple! Take as a basis the number of your car, apartment, day and month of birth and close all luggage in the same way. We also recommend keeping valuables in hotels closed in suitcases with combination locks. This will allow you to be calmer. It happens that it’s not the staff’s fault, but they climb into the windows or take things out with a fishing rod. The whole suitcase will not be taken, but small items are easy!
- We recommend locking not only the main compartment of the fabric suitcase, but also the pockets, as you can crawl through the lining by cutting the lining without touching the zipper of the main compartment. It's subtle and doesn't happen often, but some of our clients have reported it.
But, of course, traveling is first of all a joyful adventure, and if you are well prepared (and we are ready to help), then nothing will overshadow your joy!
